No one dared open the Artifact. The magic that resided inside was too powerful, too alluring and all-consuming for mortal man to contain, and thus, it was sealed away forever.
For ages, sorcerers and adventure folk sought out this magic, some even getting as far as siphoning a fraction of its power for their own loathsome purposes. Its contents? A mystic Haze that granted anyone and anything it enshrouded supreme power.
One fateful day, several groups of weary travelers long questing for the Artifact descended on its final resting place. Each claimed rightful ownership of the powers contained within and, in their struggle for dominance, destroyed the artifact that contained the ancient energy.
The Haze escaped, engulfing the land in an infinite fog, and chaos ensued.
A few brave souls tried to undo the great magic, but it was too late, the Haze had all but taken over.
But, as luck would have it, 4 Giants roamed freely throughout the land. Each was called upon individually to try their mighty hand at containing the Haze but to no avail. All hope seemed lost until a fearless wanderer arrived in the realm. From beneath their scarlet cloak, they hoisted an enchanted vessel that, when opened with a forceful flick of the wrist, released a deafening sound that summoned the Giants as a united force.
